About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Bring up and functionally test engine avionics units from first power-on through functional checkout and troubleshooting to root cause
  • Set verification strategy for owned avionics subsystems and lead verification and integration campaigns through closure
  • Define verification methods and expectations against requirements
  • Author and execute test procedures and produce test reports
  • Drive requirements to closure
  • Author and maintain requirements, digital and electrical interface control documents, and design documentation
  • Integrate avionics into the engine system and support stand and hot-fire test campaigns
  • Provide on-console test support, anomaly investigation, and corrective action
  • Represent integration and testability in cross-discipline architecture and design decisions across FPGA, embedded software, control systems, and hardware
  • Mentor engineers on verification practice, test execution, and troubleshooting technique

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with digital and analog hardware, FPGA design, embedded software, and control systems
  • Working knowledge of at least one integrated avionics discipline
  • Hands-on experience bringing up and troubleshooting electronic hardware
  • Ability to read schematics and interface control documents
  • Experience isolating faults across hardware and software boundaries
  • Experience with formalized verification activities, including test cases, procedures, and reports
  • Experience driving requirements to closure
  • Experience authoring requirements, interface control documents, or design documentation
  • Experience owning technical scope end to end and leading others
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams while maintaining objectivity and independence
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset
  • Self-driven with ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Preferred: advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field
  • Preferred: experience with engine, propulsion, or launch vehicle avionics
  • Preferred: experience with safety-critical, human-rated, or real-time embedded systems
  • Preferred: experience with Jama or DOORS
  • Preferred: experience supporting hot-fire, test stand, or vehicle-level test campaigns
  • Preferred: Python for test data capture, reduction, and analysis
  • Preferred: Simulink for motor control and HDL generation
  • Preferred: VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
  • Preferred: C/C++
  • Preferred: computer networking systems and protocols, including RS-422 and Ethernet
  • Preferred: configuration management and source code management systems
  • Preferred: DevOps and Agile/Scrum
