About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support day-to-day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems
  • Negotiate and manage Master Service Agreements and Consulting and Professional Service Agreements
  • Support departments and programs through supplier communications, contract pricing, quality, and build schedule management
  • Work with internal stakeholders to create supplier selection criteria and Requests for Proposal
  • Develop Statements of Work and payment milestone schedules with internal stakeholders
  • Hold suppliers accountable for Statement of Work performance
  • Coordinate new-supplier setup documentation
  • Negotiate Non-Disclosure Agreement, Master Service Agreement, and Consulting and Professional Service Agreement language
  • Manage and develop strategic suppliers
  • Identify process-improvement opportunities using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Manage the Purchase Order lifecycle from requisition through invoice payment
  • Escalate and resolve discrepancies involving purchasing, delivery, receiving, accounts payable invoices, and supplier payments
  • Escalate supplier order-management issues and challenges
  • Monitor supplier performance and prepare reports and records
  • Conduct supplier business reviews and develop supplier-performance improvement plans
  • Support buyers with order management, backlog monitoring, daily status, report tracking, and schedule-risk monitoring for surge capacity

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of experience in purchasing
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment while managing multiple tasks
  • Strong contract negotiation skills, with experience completing negotiations with little oversight and direction
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook and Windows programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and independently
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Experience with research and development purchasing in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment preferred
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • Experience with aerospace defense industry machined parts preferred
  • Experience with Costpoint, Coupa purchasing system, and JIRA Atlassian software preferred
  • APICS, CPM, or CSCP certification or equivalent desired
