About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support development and operations of New Glenn, a reusable heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts for flight safety with the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation
  • Support flight safety approvals with the USSF Range Safety organization
  • Provide leadership in achieving required regulatory approvals for the New Glenn launch vehicle program
  • Develop and maintain relationships across the New Glenn program and with US Space Force and NASA partners
  • Plan sophisticated flight-safety products supporting government certification requests
  • Conduct flight safety analysis studies, including trajectory analysis, debris risk assessment, probability of failure modeling, and DFO/population risk evaluations
  • Generate clear, well-documented technical reports summarizing analysis results
  • Perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and contribute as a team member

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or an equivalent technical management field
  • Experience with the flight safety analysis process, including best practices and state-of-the-industry tools
  • Exposure to LOX/LNG explosive yield, distant-focusing overpressure, probability of failure, debris risk analysis, population modeling, and related technical subjects
  • Understanding of the trade space between mission design and optimization parameters within allowable safety criteria
  • Experience with key regulatory requirements such as Part 450
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent judgment and comfort making high-quality, high-velocity decisions
  • Strong track record of product ownership
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted refugee or granted asylum
  • Required to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
