About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead design, development, and execution of comprehensive flight software test plans and procedures across satellite bus and payload subsystems
- Define and maintain the flight software verification and validation strategy, including qualification, integration, regression, and HIL testing
- Collaborate with systems engineering, flight software, avionics, fault management, and test leads to develop automated tests
- Architect and maintain scalable Python test execution frameworks across software-only, software-and-hardware bench, and HWIL environments
- Manage a team of test engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback
- Manage end-to-end test campaigns, including requirements-to-test-case traceability, execution tracking, artifact management, and verification documentation
- Coordinate test campaigns using testbeds, simulators, and hardware-in-the-loop rigs under nominal and off-nominal conditions
- Establish testability requirements with flight software developers early in the design lifecycle
- Own defect tracking, root cause analysis, and issue closure
- Support software qualification, certification, mission assurance, and safety compliance
- Participate in test readiness, test result, and flight readiness reviews
- Improve test processes, tools, and methodologies to increase constellation production velocity
- Support anomaly investigations and regression testing during on-orbit operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- 7+ years of experience in software testing, verification and validation, or software quality engineering
- At least 2+ years in a technical leadership capacity
- Experience testing embedded or real-time flight/mission-critical software
- Strong proficiency in Python for test script development and test execution architecture design
- Ability to build and maintain frameworks across software-only, software and hardware, and HWIL environments
- Experience managing test campaigns with rigorous requirements traceability
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulation environments
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes for safety-critical or mission-critical systems
- Experience with requirements management and test traceability tools such as DOORS, Jama, and JIRA
- Strong understanding of Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline preferred
- Experience testing flight software for satellites, spacecraft, or other aerospace vehicles preferred
- Familiarity with satellite constellation operations, onboard autonomy, fault management, and C&DH systems preferred
- Experience with flight software architectures such as cFS, VxWorks, and RTOS environments preferred
- Knowledge of CCSDS, SpaceWire, and CAN/MIL-STD-1553 preferred
- Experience supporting on-orbit anomaly resolution and software patch/update campaigns preferred
- Prior experience in a high-rate production environment supporting multiple concurrent satellite builds preferred
