About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct thermal and fluids analysis to define performance and operations within the MK1 Fluids subsystem
- Resolve technical challenges
- Support analysis efforts through the complete development lifecycle from design through build, test, and integration
- Capture system inputs
- Validate models based on vehicle and component test data
- Construct and vet analysis models
- Perform system-level trade studies
- Document results and present them to stakeholders
- Generate and present design review and trade study content for future SNs to subsystem and vehicle partners
- Develop new or modify existing thermo-fluid analysis models to represent vehicle configuration, latest interface conditions, and behaviors
- Post-process analysis results to draw engineering conclusions from output data
- Author and publish analysis reports in Windchill to support engineering decision-making
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 3+ years of relevant thermal/fluids analysis experience
- Experience with thermo-fluids 0D-1D modeling using Thermal Desktop Sinda/Fluint
- Understanding of Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Thermodynamics
- Hands-on experience with first-order and Excel-level fluids calculations
- Proven track record generating analysis results to support technical trades
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Advanced engineering degree preferred
- Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience preferred
- Hydrogen and oxygen systems background preferred
- Experience anchoring fluid analysis models to test data preferred
- Process automation scripting skills (VBA, MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN) preferred
- Experience utilizing Jira and Windchill preferred
- Experience with modeling propulsion, gaseous, and cryogenic fluids management preferred
- Experience modeling fluids and propulsion components including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pumps, thrusters, feedlines, pressure vessels, and instrumentation preferred
- Required to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
