About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Vehicle and Ground System Project Leads with systems engineering activities according to Blue Origin standards and practices
- Develop and implement verification plans and strategies
- Author, decompose, analyze, trace, and verify requirements
- Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external customers
- Author operations documents defining product testing requirements, operations lifecycle, maintenance requirements, and critical system interfaces
- Define operational constraints for safe end-to-end handling and successful subsystem operation
- Develop, build, and maintain detailed CONOPS for pre-launch and flight operations
- Collaborate with integrated test, launch operations, and autonomous flight operations teams to incorporate constraints into procedures and flight plans
- Provide real-time on-console engineering support for integrated tests, launch, and recovery operations
- Troubleshoot during operations
- Analyze Fluids subsystem data and conduct post-flight data reviews
- Serve as subsystem authority across CONOPS, functional architecture, components, software, and integrated interactions
- Follow component hardware, autonomous software, and integrated development testing
- Feed lessons learned into integrated subsystem operations on the flight vehicle
- Collaborate with the stage-level Vehicle Operations Integration lead
- Create constraints, alerts, and limits for integrated testing and launch teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace engineering, or another technical field
- 5+ years of current technical hands-on experience in Fluids, Thermal, Propulsion, Cryogenics, or Pneumatic systems
- Technical hands-on experience in Analysis, Design, Testing, or Launch Operations
- Hands-on experience developing, authoring, and implementing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles
- Ability to operate effectively under time pressure with partially defined requirements and evolving criteria
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and lead through influence
- Experience in systems engineering on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience writing and consuming requirements
- Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee
- Blue’s Standard Background Check required
- Preferred: Launch vehicle controller experience
- Preferred: Experience with system safety products and processes
- Preferred: Systems engineering and integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware
- Preferred: Knowledge of current systems engineering processes and methodologies
- Preferred: Experience with DOORS Next Generation or equivalent requirements management software
- Preferred: Experience in reliability, maintainability, and operability analysis and execution
- Preferred: Experience with Confluence and JIRA
