About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with minimal oversight as part of the Fluids and Propulsion Integrated Product Team
- Lead subsystem trade studies from early concept through approval and implementation
- Lead trade studies, component design and integration, first-order analysis, and test support
- Ensure timely updates and communication of subsystem-level architecture diagrams and schematics
- Apply systems engineering fundamentals across concept development, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
- Integrate fluids and propulsion subsystems with vehicle-level design, analysis, software, and operations
- Support development and execution of component and subsystem tests
- Contribute to Blue Origin’s Lunar Permanence business unit developing Blue Moon lunar landers and sustainable Earth-to-Moon transport infrastructure
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a similar technical field
- 5+ years of proven experience in fluids, propulsion, or aerospace systems
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive multi-subsystem integration, and lead trade studies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Established expertise across the full systems engineering development cycle: concept, requirements, design, analysis, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
- Experience with fluid/gas components including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, accumulators, regulators, pumps, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Advanced engineering degree preferred
- Experience supporting projects through the full development cycle preferred
- Experience leading trade studies to drive design improvements into fluids architecture preferred
- Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience preferred
- Prior cryogenics experience preferred
- Experience with hydrogen and oxygen systems preferred
- Experience utilizing Jira and Windchill preferred
- Blue’s Standard Background Check required for all positions
