About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design production, development, test, integration, and advanced manufacturing tooling and equipment for Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn business units
- Integrate mechanical design and analysis concepts across projects of varying size and scale
- Interpret and apply design and drafting standards, including ASME Y14.5, when creating drawings
- Address technical design challenges involving assembly fixtures, material handlers, rotisseries, test fixtures, structural weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machines
- Collaborate with component designers, manufacturing engineers, and integration engineering
- Optimize safety, cost, quality, cycle time, delivery, reliability, life, and maintenance/refurbishment metrics
- Manage projects with support, including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, equipment installation, proof testing, and commissioning of custom tooling
- Set, implement, and maintain project schedules and budgets
- Match with an appropriate engineering team based on skillset, experience, and business needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a BS Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another relevant engineering field
- Degree earned within the last year and ability to start by Fall 2026
- Basic understanding of design fundamentals, including requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, and environmental considerations
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs, preferably Creo Pro/E, including drawing creation
- Basic proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials
- Basic proficiency in structural analysis, including free-body diagrams and hand calculations
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis, preferably ANSYS
- Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience demonstrating technical skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
- Flexible and adaptable mindset
- Self-driven ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
- Successful completion of Blue’s Standard Background Check
- Additional background checks or credentials may apply to certain job profiles
