About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work on complex cryogenic subsystems and components as part of the Zero-g Propellant Management Product Team
- Support hardware ownership from definition through delivery, including design, verification, and integration
- Track internal and external procurements and hardware dependencies
- Support trade studies, component design/integration, first-order analysis, test support, and supplier interface
- Participate in internal and external cryogenic technology development meetings
- Develop, modify, and release Creo Parametric engineering models, assemblies, and drawings for cryogenic propellant management hardware
- Generate fabrication and assembly drawings according to Blue Origin drafting standards and GD&T requirements
- Apply Model Based Definition practices and embed PMI where applicable
- Follow CAD modeling conventions and Windchill configuration management requirements
- Maintain product data and support changes through the CN-controlled release process
- Create Interface Control Models and Interface Control Drawings
- Deliver geometry to analysis teams for Finite Element Models
- Support drawing release, manufacturing plan development, and vehicle integration
- Perform model checks, drawing checks, and participate in design reviews
- Support vendor RFQs, fabrication, inspection, and proof-test packages with BOMs, weldment details, machined-part details, inspection drawings, and as-built redlines
- Escalate ambiguous or high-risk problems to senior engineers as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area
- 5+ years of experience in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems/components
- Experience supporting development, integration, or certification of aerospace systems for flight
- Experience with fluid/gas components, including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
- Experience with Cryogenic Fluid Management techniques and technologies
- Demonstrated proficiency with Creo Parametric for parts, assemblies, weldments, and drawings
- Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Ability to apply GD&T to fabricated, machined, and welded fluid system hardware
- Experience with formal configuration management, engineering change, and release processes
- Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, tolerance/stack-up analysis, and manufacturable drawings
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- U.S. citizenship, U.S. nationality, U.S. permanent residency, refugee status, or asylum status required for export control compliance
- Preferred: M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area
- Preferred: Human-rated space vehicle experience
- Preferred: FEA experience, preferably ANSYS
- Preferred: Experience with upper stages and spacecraft
- Preferred: Experience with the full life cycle of propulsion and fluid systems
- Preferred: Windchill PDM production-environment experience
- Preferred: Model Based Definition and PMI authoring experience
- Preferred: AWS D1.1/D17.1 structural weldment drafting experience
- Preferred: DFM/DFA principles
- Preferred: Aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industry experience
