About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define, own, and control the subsystem technical baseline
- Perform technical work and provide high-caliber technical leadership
- Define, own, and control the subsystem cost and schedule baseline
- Drive continuous improvement and refinement of the baseline in a dynamic development environment
- Manage engineers specifying, designing, analyzing, manufacturing, integrating, testing, and delivering hardware and software components
- Balance mission objectives, cost, schedule, and risk
- Manage external procurements and internal hardware dependencies required for subsystem deliveries
- Manage direct reports’ professional development, including performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, and one-on-one development conversations
- Coach direct reports on performance
- Drive excellence in programmatic and project operations through a data-driven management approach
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams and functional groups
- 8+ years of relevant experience in the full lifecycle development of aerospace structures and/or mechanisms
- Experience in requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and/or operation
- Resource management experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, including staffing, budget, and schedule management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
- Ability to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
- Preferred: Experience designing, building, and testing pyrotechnically actuated mechanisms
- Preferred: Experience designing, building, and testing large deployable structures
- Preferred: Experience with verification, integration, and testing of integrated spacecraft subsystems or systems
- Preferred: Experience with space vehicle mission operations
- Preferred: Experience managing suppliers/subcontracts
- Preferred: Familiarity with agile project management
- Preferred: Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management such as EVM
- Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. degree in engineering or another technical field
