About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team responsible for engine control subsystem delivery, including controller hardware, software, instrumentation, harnessing, and integration
  • Manage project execution, scope, deliverables, cost, schedule, and lifecycle cost
  • Identify, document, communicate, and mitigate technical, programmatic, asset, and safety risks and opportunities
  • Coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, and other Enterprise functions
  • Develop and oversee technical plans aligned with customer requirements and internal design criteria
  • Own product scope from development through qualification, rate production, and commercial flight operations
  • Manage interdisciplinary engineering tasks and subsystem interfaces
  • Ensure quality of engineering outputs, documentation, analyses, and verification/validation
  • Provide technical direction and support to the engineering team
  • Support requirements decomposition and allocation, systems engineering, technical design, analysis, and integration
  • Create project-data frameworks and monitor key project metrics
  • Oversee hiring, employee development, coaching, performance management, and HR compliance
  • Foster continuous growth, learning, and a positive team culture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven track record of leading and managing teams to deliver complex engineering subsystems or products
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering or technical field, or significant demonstrated experience leading teams designing/developing complex engineered products in lieu of a technical degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field
  • Significant experience in avionics systems and/or control systems
  • Project management experience
  • Basic knowledge across requirements negotiation, design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and vehicle integration
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and vision
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee
  • Ability to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
  • Additional background checks or credentials may apply to certain job profiles
