About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and lead teams in hands-on design, development, supplier management, and systems engineering across the fluids systems of a new advanced New Glenn upper stage
  • Support development and operations of New Glenn, a reusable heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle
  • Provide employee performance leadership through professional development, mentoring, technical guidance, and training programs
  • Drive teams to solve difficult problems, incorporate changes, and lead failure investigations
  • Set and enforce design standards, manage system interfaces, and resolve technical and programmatic issues across the stage
  • Oversee Engineering Change Approvals, drawing and technical document reviews, and the purchase order system (MRP)
  • Provide leadership and oversight through major test efforts and stage qualification, build, hot fire, and launch
  • Develop, execute, and improve technical processes in the rocket design and development cycle
  • Formulate and implement preventative and corrective actions
  • Lead and mentor teammates in a highly collaborative environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum B.S. degree in engineering or science (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, nuclear, or physics desired)
  • 2+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups of employees
  • 5+ years of aerospace industry or related field experience
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, stress analysis, and fluid design
  • Experience with cryogenic components and aerospace testing campaigns
  • Familiarity working with suppliers and supplier management
  • Ability to work in a cooperative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment
  • Launch vehicle experience
  • Strong project management and leadership skills focused on delivering results
  • Strong supplier management and conflict resolution experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Experience managing personnel, budgets, or test resources (desired)
  • Solid understanding of rocket fluid systems and components (desired)
  • Experience with non-conformances, discrepancy reports, failure investigations, and corrective actions (desired)
  • Familiarity with fluid systems operations, verification test process, and risk management (desired)
  • Expertise in drafting standards and GD&T (desired)
