About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define, capture, and manage mission-specific system technical baselines, configurations, and capability roadmap implementation
- Establish technical requirements and architecture baselines for Blue Ring spacecraft capabilities, missions, and customer needs
- Manage Blue Ring architectural product-line variants, including spacecraft bus, ground-system, and payload requirements and interfaces
- Collaborate with Mission Systems Engineering, Integration & Test and supporting organizations on systems-engineering governance processes
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on system requirements, design parameters, technical budgets, ICDs, program plans, and technical performance measures
- Lead stakeholder-needs analyses to align system configurations and technical capabilities with customer missions
- Track system-configuration evolution and identify synergies between mission types and customer requirements
- Develop technology-onramp and capability-evolution plans
- Lead Systems Engineering Change Management and optimize related processes
- Define standardized approaches for maintaining technical baselines across concurrent missions, development efforts, and customers
- Lead trade studies evaluating evolving technologies and mission requirements
- Use Jama, Windchill, and Cameo
- Support and present at leadership meetings and gated design, mission, and readiness reviews
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, preferably in the space industry
- Typically 7+ years of related experience in the design, development, and flight test of aerospace systems, preferably spacecraft
- Understanding of systems engineering fundamentals and experience in multiple system lifecycle phases
- Experience defining space system requirements and concept definitions spanning broad mission objectives
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and the Systems Engineering V
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
- Spacecraft operations and command-and-control system experience preferred
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering preferred
- Familiarity with Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody preferred
- Experience across the product life cycle preferred
- Knowledge of Confluence and JIRA preferred
- Familiarity with formal risk and opportunity management processes preferred
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, or a related discipline preferred
