About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with Mission Lead Systems Engineers, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, Flight Software, Payload & Mission Integration, and Ground Systems Engineering teams
- Define system architecture variants in a model-based environment across multiple customers and missions
- Analyze mission requirements for multiple mission types
- Ensure accurate flow-down and traceability to system architecture elements
- Support derivation and allocation of requirements to lower levels of the system architecture
- Deconflict competing requirements
- Support development of concepts, candidate architectures, and optimized synthesis of requirements, architecture, and design
- Generate MBSE artifacts including space vehicle States and Modes definitions, Operational Constraints, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and behavior diagrams
- Serve as a subject matter expert on spacecraft and ground system capabilities and constraints
- Define candidate architectures for evolving customer needs and multiple mission types across a growing spacecraft product line
- Optimize the System Architecture baseline for Blue Ring spacecraft missions and customer needs
- Support maturation of the Blue Ring Digital Thread
Requirements
What you’ll need- Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Clearance required to start
- U.S. citizenship, U.S. nationality, U.S. permanent residency, refugee status, or asylum admission required
- Relocation required
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
- 9+ years of related experience in system architecture definition/development, requirements engineering/management, space or ground system and/or software design and interface definition
- Familiarity with or experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering, including system models and/or system architecture diagrams
- Familiarity with spacecraft operations, command and control, and/or spacecraft communications uplink and downlink technologies
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and the Systems Engineering V
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Active US Government Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Clearance
- Preferred: spacecraft command and control system experience
- Preferred: software or scripting language experience
- Preferred: MBSE/System Modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
- Preferred: System Architecture frameworks such as DODAF, UAF, or NASA SMAF
- Preferred: spacecraft and ground-system internal and external interface familiarity
- Preferred: experience across the product life cycle
- Preferred: familiarity with spacecraft initialization and mission operations concepts
- Preferred: experience with system requirements elicitation, derivation and allocation
- Preferred: knowledge of Confluence and JIRA
- Preferred: familiarity with formal risk and opportunity management processes
