About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and implement TeraWave command and data handling flight software
  • Develop telecommand and telemetry processing for command validation, scheduling, execution, health/status collection, and downlink management
  • Develop spacecraft time-management software, including time correlation, GPS/GNSS synchronization, and precision timing distribution
  • Create and maintain secure software interfaces between C&DH and spacecraft subsystems
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers on requirements, interfaces, and subsystem boundaries
  • Develop and integrate simulation environments and models for nominal and off-nominal scenarios
  • Support software architecture, design reviews, and systems-engineering trade studies
  • Participate in SIL and HIL integration, verification, and validation testing
  • Support on-orbit operations and troubleshooting of deployed spacecraft
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in spacecraft flight software or embedded software development
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python
  • Understanding of object-oriented problem solving and software layering
  • Experience with RTOS such as Linux, QNX, VxWorks, or RTEMS
  • Experience developing spacecraft avionics software for C&DH, telecommand and telemetry processing, or hardware I/O management
  • Familiarity with CCSDS standards
  • Familiarity with space-systems cybersecurity principles
  • Experience with Google Test or equivalent embedded C/C++ unit-testing frameworks
  • Experience with IPC mechanisms such as sockets, shared memory, message queues, or publish-subscribe middleware
  • Experience with cross-compilation toolchains and embedded Linux build systems such as CMake, Make, Yocto, or Buildroot
  • Experience with software lifecycle, Git configuration management, CI/CD, and containerized environments
  • Experience with verification and validation for mission-critical embedded software
  • Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, I2C, SPI, and RS-422/485
  • Familiarity with static analysis tools and MISRA C/C++ coding standards
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee status required under export control regulations
  • Required Blue’s Standard Background Check
  • Master’s degree, spacecraft operations, OTA updates, timing synchronization, flight software frameworks, FDIR/autonomy, and radiation mitigation are preferred qualifications
