About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own schematic capture and layout strategy for user terminal logic boards and aperture PCBAs from architecture through fabrication release
  • Lead multi-layer, high-density interconnect PCB design while isolating high-speed digital, IF, and sensitive mmWave routing
  • Design power delivery networks for high aggregate current and dynamic beamforming loads
  • Partner with thermal and mechanical engineering on board-level thermal design and heat extraction
  • Collaborate with RF, antenna, and ASIC engineers on PCB-to-radiating-element interfaces, packaged-antenna integration, front-end IC placement, and feed routing
  • Design and route high-speed data buses and reference clock distribution networks
  • Perform signal integrity, power integrity, crosstalk, and EMI simulation and analysis
  • Contribute to component selection and architecture trades considering availability, lead time, cost, and performance
  • Drive design for manufacturability and test with PCB fabricators and assembly partners
  • Lead prototype board and integrated-terminal bring-up, hardware debug, and functional lab characterization
  • Support qualification and regulatory compliance testing for an intentional radiator
  • Establish electrical design practices, review standards, and documentation for the terminal program

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in complex hardware product development
  • Proficiency in EDA tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro
  • Hands-on experience in schematic capture and layout of high-speed, multi-layer, mixed-signal boards
  • Experience designing robust power delivery networks for high-current, dynamically loaded systems
  • Strong working understanding of RF fundamentals, including impedance matching, transmission line design, shielding, and insertion loss
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers
  • Experience carrying hardware through concept, schematic, integration, test, and production
  • Ability to operate with requirements that are still being defined and make durable design decisions
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Preferred: mmWave hardware design experience, phased array experience, PCB-to-radiator interface design, large-format PCB design, board-level thermal design, satellite communication systems, high-performance SoCs or FPGAs, regulatory compliance for intentional radiators, outdoor installation hardware, and high-volume consumer or automotive manufacturing experience
