About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop Board Support Package software for new hardware, including drivers
  • Program at bare-metal or OS level for hardware initialization, control, embedded data processing, and networking/communication
  • Debug avionics spaceflight hardware using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG debuggers
  • Participate in design concepts and reviews, focusing on hardware/software partitioning
  • Perform benchmark analysis and deploy benchmarking code to characterize hardware performance
  • Bring up and use hardware accelerators in modern SoC devices
  • Perform scripting and Linux development with development kits and sensor modules
  • Define and implement embedded software for I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP, UDP, GMSL, SpaceWire, CameraLink, Aurora, AXI, AMBA, and related interfaces
  • Develop boot and software-based fault-tolerance strategies
  • Publish internal documents and memos
  • Participate in design reviews and review and generate requirements
  • Collaborate with avionics hardware engineers and cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams across multiple embedded software efforts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in the relevant fields
  • Strong embedded software design and development skills in C/C++/Rust
  • Linux or similar scripting experience
  • Strong cross-hardware/software debugging skills using GDB, XSDB, GRMON, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, Wireshark, and similar tools
  • Experience single-stepping through code, examining Assembly, probing memory, and driving I/O
  • Strong background in computer architecture, including memory buses, cache, DMA, and CPU execution pipelines
  • Experience with version control systems, especially Git
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee
  • Successful completion of Blue’s Standard Background Check
