About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Improve engineering operating cadence, vertical integrations, and hardware deliveries for Core Avionics teams
- Perform program management across the electronics product lifecycle from research and design development through flight hardware manufacturing and production
- Manage budgets, schedules, WBS, and program plans for mission-critical electronics hardware
- Communicate status, risks, opportunities, variances, and recovery plans to engineering and program management teams
- Maintain the IPT operating cadence and report technical, cost, schedule, and risk metrics
- Monitor electronics design and manufacturing process health and identify cycle-time improvements
- Integrate the Core Avionics Group into overall program operations and sequence manufacturing dependencies
- Generate reporting boards and tools covering design reviews, manufacturing yield, and test results for business and program reviews
- Support agile product planning, electronics design sprints, and manufacturing capacity planning
- Coach teams on self-organization and design-to-manufacturing handoffs
- Lead Tiger Teams for electronics design challenges and manufacturing issues
- Track IPT receivables and deliverables, electronics hardware configurations, and manufacturing specifications
- Coordinate with internal and external manufacturing and test facilities to deliver flight-ready avionics hardware
- Coordinate electronics design reviews, manufacturing readiness assessments, and supplier qualification activities
- Mentor team members and provide leadership and development opportunities
- Promote and coach Blue Origin leadership principles
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline
- 7+ years of experience in electronics design and manufacturing operations in highly technical and multidisciplinary engineering development projects
- Experience managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost
- Experience managing electronics hardware development from concept through production, including PCB design, component selection, and manufacturing process optimization
- Direct experience with SMT assembly, through-hole assembly, conformal coating, potting, and final test procedures
- Experience with electronics design tools such as Altium or Cadence and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
- Experience collecting and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information and translating data into electronics manufacturing requirements, planning documents, tools, and processes
- Experience with electronics supply chain management, component sourcing, supplier qualification, and obsolescence management
- Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management such as EVM
- Experience with Agile project management and Jira
- Experience with MS Project, P6 Primavera, or similar scheduling tools
- Experience managing electronics manufacturing subcontracts with contract manufacturers and component suppliers
- Knowledge of functional testing, environmental stress screening, and qualification testing
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and provide technical solutions to complex electronics design and manufacturing problems
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee required
- Standard background check required
- Master's degree, MBA or equivalent experience preferred
- PMP certification preferred
- Experience with avionics, power electronics, motor controllers, or embedded systems preferred
- Familiarity with flight hardware qualification, aerospace electronics requirements, space-grade components, MIL-STD/NASA standards, reliability engineering, configuration management, and DO-254 preferred
