Key responsibilities & impact- Lead interconnection assembly design for satellite modules and subsystems, including connector selection, harness routing, cable design, wire termination, backshell integration, and mechanical integration
- Own interconnection assembly process development for crimping, soldering, potting, strain relief, connectorization, continuity testing, and integration workflows
- Manage connector, harness, and cable BOM procurement, vendor coordination, tolerance analysis, and assembly oversight
- Drive first-article inspection, continuity and performance validation, process validation, and manufacturing readiness reviews for production ramp
- Apply DFM, DFT, DFA, DFR, and DFS principles across the interconnection assembly lifecycle
- Optimize connector selection, harness routing, wire gauge, termination methods, and assembly processes for yield and cost at constellation-scale volumes
- Architect continuity test points, connector mating references, and automated test coverage for factory acceptance and in-field diagnostics
- Simplify connector count, keying/polarization, routing, and termination methods to reduce assembly time, rework, and errors
- Apply derating, worst-case analysis, FMEA, thermal-mechanical and vibration analysis, and reliability prediction
- Coordinate connector and wire standardization, second-sourcing, and obsolescence mitigation with supply chain and manufacturing partners
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to define acceptance criteria, optimize yield, and support production ramp for TeraWave
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in interconnection design, harness/cable engineering, or electromechanical assembly in a product development and volume production environment
- Experience designing connector, harness, and cable assemblies with tight performance and reliability requirements
- Proficiency in harness design tools such as Capital, Zuken E3, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with crimping, soldering, potting, connectorization, continuity testing, and line bring-up
- Demonstrated application of DFX principles, including DFM, DFT, DFA, and DFR, in bringing interconnection assemblies into volume production
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
- Ability to pass Blue’s Standard Background Check
- Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Preferred: 15+ years of relevant experience
- Preferred: Experience with high-reliability connectors, high-speed/RF cabling, and space-grade wire and harness standards including IPC/WHMA-A-620 and NASA-STD-8739
- Preferred: Experience with harness routing analysis, EMI/EMC shielding, and signal integrity
- Preferred: Experience designing and manufacturing interconnection hardware for space, aviation, or high-reliability thermal-vacuum environments
- Preferred: Experience with automated harness manufacturing, wire processing equipment, and test systems
- Preferred: Production hardware background including DFX, process optimization, supply chain coordination, and yield optimization at scale
- Preferred: Hands-on TVAC, vibration, and EMI/EMC qualification testing
