About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop GN&C requirements with flow-downs to component levels and companion verification methods
- Support system and subsystem analyses needed to develop requirements
- Manage technical budgets and performance metrics
- Collaborate with other subsystems and spacecraft systems engineers to define subsystem boundaries and interfaces
- Perform analyses, simulations, and tests, including component and hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Verify component and subsystem specifications and requirements
- Develop verification and validation plans for software, hardware, and integrated subsystem performance
- Support definition, development, and execution of simulations and tools for subsystem-functionality verification
- Provide updates on schedule, resources, cost, and risks
- Coordinate with vehicle systems engineering, propulsion, structures, and dynamics teams to meet vehicle performance deliverables
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related subject areas
- Experience in the full development lifecycle of a GN&C subsystem on at least one aerospace program
- Experience developing and analyzing GN&C algorithms
- Demonstrated experience developing and testing navigation sensors and control actuators
- Demonstrated experience implementing and testing GN&C software and hardware
- Solid systems engineering and configuration management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and capable of planning and guiding complex technical work
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment
- Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
- Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related subject areas
- Preferred: 10 or more years of design experience
- Preferred: Experience leading the full development lifecycle of a GN&C subsystem on at least one aerospace program
- Preferred: Advanced knowledge of planetary spacecraft GN&C systems
- Preferred: Knowledge and experience developing descent and landing software for planetary missions
