About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform detailed hand calculations and finite element analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures
  • Document stress analyses to support release of engineering drawings and documents
  • Make predictions, implement test campaigns, and create reports supporting hardware qualifications
  • Build system- and detail-level models supporting structural design
  • Support other teams and team members with inputs for configuration development and trade studies
  • Mentor designers and junior structural analysts in stress, stability, fracture analysis, and standard processes
  • Improve enterprise analysis capabilities by creating process automation tools for model creation, optimization, strength checks, and analysis report generation
  • Support development and operations of New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proficiency with one or more of Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, or Abaqus, including reading and manipulating input files
  • High proficiency with FEA software such as FEMAP, Abaqus CAE, or Hypermesh
  • Extensive understanding of FEM modeling techniques, including boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, and verification methods
  • Structural analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element techniques
  • Experience with industry-standard software such as Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS-Dyna, Hypermesh, or HyperSizer
  • Experience with development and/or qualification testing
  • Knowledge of aerospace and/or launch vehicle structural requirements
  • Experience with fatigue and fracture analysis
  • Ability to relocate to WA, FL, or CO locations
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugee or asylee
  • Required to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
