About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of drafters and design engineers creating, maintaining, and releasing part, assembly, and install CAD models for the Transfer Stage Vehicle
  • Lead designers in generating, integrating, and releasing CAD models
  • Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team
  • Manage professional development through coaching, one-on-one development conversations, performance reviews, and promotion management
  • Develop tools and processes to improve team capability and performance
  • Develop robust plans meeting deliverables and manage technical, schedule, and risk metrics
  • Monitor technical progress, requirements, schedule, deliverables, and risks
  • Review recommendations for change with program management
  • Communicate progress to leadership
  • Apply engineering and business judgment to ensure efficient product design, manufacturing, procurement, testing, qualification, and delivery
  • Develop Lunar Transportation systems that return humans to the Moon and extend human presence beyond Earth

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 10+ years directly related experience
  • Experience with CAD (Creo), PLM (Windchill), and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • In depth understanding of CAD modeling and engineering principles
  • Track record of delivering complex products, on schedule and in budget
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Standard Background Check required
  • Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if the role requires work on a military installation
  • Additional commercial motor vehicle and hazardous-material compliance requirements may apply to applicable drivers
