About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Source materials, obtain and compare quotes, and negotiate pricing and purchasing terms
  • Purchase materials based on approved plans, takeoffs, specifications, and production schedules
  • Coordinate with estimating, design, factory production, and project management to confirm quantities, product requirements, budgets, and delivery dates
  • Maintain supplier relationships for structural materials, roofing, windows, doors, siding, insulation, drywall, MEP materials, cabinetry, flooring, and finishes
  • Issue and track purchase orders; resolve backorders, substitutions, damaged materials, and delivery issues
  • Maintain supplier contacts, price lists, purchasing records, and committed costs
  • Identify opportunities to improve pricing and availability through volume purchasing and preferred supplier agreements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience purchasing construction materials for residential or modular homebuilding in California
  • Established relationships with Southern California construction material suppliers and distributors
  • Knowledge of building materials, product specifications, pricing, and lead times
  • Ability to work from plans, material lists, and takeoffs
  • Strong negotiation, organization, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and purchasing or construction management software
