About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Write, edit, and proofread reports, regulations, articles, newsletters, magazines, news releases, training materials, brochures, handbooks, pamphlets, guidebooks, scholarly works, reference materials, speeches, scripts, and other customer deliverables
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information for user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, and related documentation
  • Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other documents for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and quality
  • Conduct research and ensure appropriate use of technical, medical, and healthcare terminology
  • Translate complex technical information into clear documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with technical staff, subject matter experts, analysts, project managers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain documentation for VHA CCPI data analytics, systems, processes, workflows, and operations
  • Review source materials and identify inconsistencies, information gaps, terminology issues, and clarity improvements
  • Apply writing, editing, formatting, and documentation standards
  • Use computer-based systems and documentation tools to create, edit, format, organize, and maintain technical content
  • Incorporate stakeholder feedback and revisions while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and version control
  • Support documentation templates, style guides, standard operating procedures, and editorial processes
  • Manage multiple documentation assignments and priorities while meeting schedules and deadlines
  • Ensure documentation is professional, technically accurate, well-organized, and audience-appropriate
  • Support continuous improvement of documentation processes and deliverable quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Eight (8) years of professional experience in technical writing, technical editing, communications, documentation, or a related field
  • Strong experience writing and editing professional and technical materials, including reports, training materials, user manuals, proposals, system documentation, and customer deliverables
  • Strong experience with computer-based systems and documentation tools
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information
  • Experience editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other technical documents
  • Experience conducting research and applying technical terminology, including medical and healthcare terminology
  • Strong understanding of medical and healthcare industry terminology
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear documentation for technical and non-technical personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance
