About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Resolver engineering team and collaborate with Product Management, Release Management, and other engineering teams to plan and deliver new capabilities.
  • Manage, mentor, and support the career development of software developers from junior through Staff level.
  • Identify and remove team roadblocks while overseeing direct reports' performance and career development.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, review technical approaches, investigate difficult problems, and contribute to the codebase when appropriate.
  • Guide architectural decisions and the evolution of Resolver and its supporting services with senior engineers.
  • Lead the evolution of Resolver’s cloud management services and their migration onto the Horizon platform.
  • Plan, scope, estimate, and deliver the team’s work.
  • Translate product requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Maintain software quality, maintainability, performance, and sound architecture.
  • Conduct design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and occasional code contributions.
  • Help design and maintain performance-sensitive and concurrent software.
  • Coordinate technical investigation and triage of customer-reported issues with Customer Care and other teams.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and represent the Resolver team in cross-team discussions.
  • Balance new functionality with technical debt, reliability, and long-term architectural improvements.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of software development experience, ideally including work on systems, networking, distributed systems, or other performance-sensitive software.
  • Experience managing software developers or providing substantial technical and people leadership.
  • Strong software engineering background and the ability to participate credibly in architecture, design, code review, and technical problem-solving.
  • Expertise with Rust, Java, or Go. Rust experience is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Experience designing, building, or integrating REST APIs and backend services.
  • Experience with concurrent, mission critical and performance-sensitive software.
  • Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and HTTP/S.
  • Experience with DNS is an asset but is not required.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes or other cloud-native platforms.
  • Experience with AWS is preferred; Azure or GCP experience is also useful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with a team that includes both office-based and fully remote engineers.
