About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the engineering organization behind LiveAction, BlueCat's Network Observability product line
- Own the technical direction, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of a complex, data-intensive platform
- Set the technical direction and multi-year engineering roadmap for network observability, network performance monitoring, or infrastructure monitoring products
- Lead engineering teams delivering enterprise infrastructure products and services across SaaS and on-prem environments
- Architect and scale platforms that ingest, process, and analyze network telemetry, including flow data, SNMP, packet capture, synthetic testing, and streaming telemetry
- Deliver AI capabilities for anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, and predictive insights
- Evolve long-lived code bases and develop plans to retire technical debt
- Build geographically distributed engineering teams and manage work transitions to offshore teams and multiple sites
- Coach, mentor, and develop managers and senior technical leaders
- Establish software development standards, processes, and best practices
- Develop strategic plans with Product Management, executive leadership, and team members
- Engage directly with enterprise and government strategic accounts to understand technical requirements and resolve escalations
- Partner cross-functionally with Product Management, Customer Care, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success
Requirements
What you’ll need- MS/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
- 15+ years of experience in a software engineering environment
- 10+ years managing senior individual contributors and other leads/managers, including leading managers of managers
- Direct experience building network observability, network performance monitoring, or network/infrastructure management products
- Strong technical fluency in networking fundamentals and telemetry (TCP/IP, routing/switching, NetFlow/IPFIX, SNMP, packet analysis, WAN/SD-WAN)
- Knowledge of open source technologies such as ClickHouse, Prometheus/Grafana, and Kubernetes
- Experience delivering high-performance hardware/appliance systems for network telemetry/packets
- Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in SaaS or PaaS engineering and on-prem enterprise software delivery
- Strong development experience in Java, C++, or similar object-oriented languages
- Experience operating at, or reporting directly to, the C-level
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a collaborative, agile development environment
