About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, implement, and support a new platform replacing a critical legacy insurance system
- Work with an external implementation partner and cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise workflow solutions
- Design workflow components and reusable solutions
- Develop enterprise integrations through APIs and messaging technologies
- Support production environments and workflow modernization initiatives
- Build long-term organizational expertise in workflow technologies
- Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding
- Design, develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems
- Devise or modify application systems and procedures to optimize functional requirements
- Design, code, test, debug, and document programs, subroutines, and scripts
- Serve as project lead, business systems analyst, or technical lead, or manage project phases
- Maintain technical skills for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities, and networks
- Respond to system failures and performance events to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence
- Provide guidance and training to less-experienced analysts/programmers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise workflow applications using IBM BPM 8.x and/or IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) 24.x or 26.x
- Strong expertise designing and implementing Processes, Human Services, Coaches, Coach Views, Dashboards, Toolkits, reusable components, and workflow orchestration capabilities
- Experience integrating IBM BAW solutions using REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, JMS/MQ messaging, databases, and stored procedures
- Experience across requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, technical documentation, and production support
- Strong programming experience with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, and SQL
- Experience with SQL Server and DB2
- Data modeling experience highly valued
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, execute unit testing, support system/integration testing, and participate in code reviews
- Experience working directly with customers to refine business requirements while following BABOK practices
- Experience collaborating in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
- 1 year of experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards
- 3 years of systems and programming experience
- 1 year of expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST
- Proven information technology skills in use at BCBST
- Proven analysis, design, and coding skills, including success leading large and complex projects
- Ability to interpret and translate technical and/or complex concepts for project team members and business personnel
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical co-workers
