About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of a new platform replacing a critical legacy insurance solution
- Partner with an external implementation partner, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional delivery teams
- Build scalable enterprise workflow and decision-management solutions supporting a significant portion of membership
- Establish development standards and influence solution architecture
- Mentor team members and build organizational expertise in IBM workflow technologies
- Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding
- Design, develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems
- Devise or modify application systems and procedures to optimize capacity, operating time, response time, and desired results
- Design, code, test, debug, and document programs, subroutines, and scripts
- Develop and implement program/system test plans and data verification methods
- Respond to system failures and performance events to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence
- Research software and hardware products to support recommendations and budgeting/purchasing efforts
- Act as an expert technical resource to development staff throughout development and implementation
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise workflow solutions using IBM BPM 8.x and/or IBM BAW 20.x, 21.x, or 24.x
- 3+ years of hands-on IBM Operational Decision Manager experience
- Extensive experience developing Business Process Definitions and Processes, Human Services, Client-Side Human Services, Coaches, Coach Views, dashboards, UCAs, Business Objects, toolkits, reusable components, and exception-handling frameworks
- Strong experience integrating IBM BAW and ODM solutions through REST APIs, SOAP web services, JMS/MQ messaging, databases, and stored procedures
- Proficiency with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, SQL, and enterprise database platforms, including SQL Server and DB2
- Experience leading IBM BAW upgrades and migrations
- Experience supporting deployments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production
- Experience with troubleshooting, performance tuning, optimization, and root cause analysis
- Experience with formal requirements gathering including BABOK good practices, architecture reviews, solution design, and technical estimation
- Experience establishing coding standards, conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, and collaborating in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
- 1 year of experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards
- 5 years of systems and programming experience
- 1 year of expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST
- Proven skill with information technology in use at BCBST
- Proven analysis, design, and coding skills, and demonstrated success in leading large and complex projects
- Top level technical experience in one or more specialized areas of applications systems analysis and programming
- Ability to interpret and translate technical and/or complex concepts into information meaningful to project team members and/or business personnel
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical co-workers
