About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead delivery of scalable applications built with React/Next.js and Java/Node.js
Build high-quality user interfaces with TypeScript, React, and Next.js
Develop backend services in Java and Node.js using REST and SOAP
Deploy and support applications on WebSphere and container platforms
Break down requirements, estimate work, and drive end-to-end delivery
Collaborate with product, QA, operations, and engineering teams
Use monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Participate in architecture and design reviews
Mentor developers and conduct code reviews
Define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding
Design, develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems
Optimize application systems and procedures for capacity, operating time, response time, and desired results
Design, code, test, debug, and document programs, subroutines, and scripts
Develop and implement program/system test plans and data verification methods
Respond to system failures and performance events to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence
Research software and hardware products to support recommendations and budgeting/purchasing efforts
Act as an expert technical resource to development staff throughout development and implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
1 year of experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards
5 years of systems and programming experience
1 year of expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST
Proven skill with information technology in use at BCBST
Proven analysis, design, and coding skills
Demonstrated success leading large and complex projects
Top-level technical experience in one or more specialized areas of applications systems analysis and programming
Ability to interpret and translate technical and complex concepts for project team members and business personnel
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical co-workers
