About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support and modernize EDI, interoperability, and FHIR capabilities across batch and real-time processing
Ensure underlying applications and servers remain reliable and secure
Solve complex production challenges and improve systems through automation
Work across on-premises, OpenShift, and cloud environments
Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding
Design, develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems
Optimize application systems and procedures for capacity, operating time, response time, and desired results
Design, code, test, debug, and document programs, subroutines, and scripts
Develop and implement program/system test plans and data verification methods
Respond to system failures and performance events to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence
Research software and hardware products to support recommendations, budgeting, and purchasing
Act as an expert technical resource to development staff throughout development and implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
Equivalent years of experience: one year of technical experience for every year of college requested
1 year of experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards
5 years of systems and programming experience
1 year of expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST
Enterprise application and Windows Server support experience
Advanced SQL Server skills
Hands-on scripting and automation experience
Understanding of FHIR standards
Experience with healthcare data and/or EDI
Ability to troubleshoot complex platform and data-processing issues and address system vulnerabilities and health
Experience with PowerShell and AIX Korn shell
Preferred: Ansible Automation Platform, including playbooks, vaults, configuration management, and CI/CD integration
Preferred: Working knowledge of Java and related technologies
Preferred: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, DevOps, OpenShift, REST, SOAP, and Web Services
Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation

Proven IT, analysis, design, and coding skills
Demonstrated success leading large and complex projects
Top-level technical experience in applications systems analysis and programming
Ability to interpret and translate technical or complex concepts for technical and business personnel
Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical coworkers
