About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support a broad portfolio of critical provider-facing applications and services
  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and support solutions for provider data management and operational processes
  • Work across modern .NET Core applications, web services, APIs, batch processing solutions, and legacy platforms undergoing modernization
  • Deliver new functionality
  • Support production environments
  • Troubleshoot complex integrations
  • Help guide the future direction of the application portfolio
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding
  • Design, develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems
  • Devise or modify application systems and procedures to optimize capacity, operating time, response time, and desired results
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document programs, subroutines, and scripts
  • Serve as project lead, business systems analyst, or technical lead for small to medium efforts, or manage phases of medium to large efforts
  • Maintain technical skills for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities, and networks
  • Respond to system failures and performance events to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence
  • Provide guidance and training to less-experienced analysts/programmers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
  • 1 year of experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards
  • 3 years of systems and programming experience
  • 1 year of expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST
  • Experience developing enterprise applications using .NET Core
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience troubleshooting complex system integrations and supporting large-scale application environments
  • Experience participating in production support and on-call rotations
  • Proven information technology skills in use at BCBST
  • Proven analysis, design, and coding skills
  • Demonstrated success leading large and complex projects
  • Ability to interpret and translate technical and/or complex concepts for project team members and business personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical coworkers
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of API development, ETL/data movement processes, batch processing, and service-oriented architecture preferred
  • Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, and Entity Framework preferred
  • Experience developing and supporting GraphQL and REST APIs preferred
  • Exposure to legacy COBOL and AIX environments preferred
  • Candidates local to Chattanooga and/or willing to travel occasionally to the Chattanooga, TN headquarters strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work without employer sponsorship
