About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support quality assurance for business-critical provider portal and eligibility applications
- Develop and execute test cases and test scripts
- Perform functional, automation, performance, UI, API, database, system integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
- Identify, document, and manage defects through the defect lifecycle
- Validate application functionality across integrated systems
- Work closely with application teams and external partners
- Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery activities
- Prepare testing strategy documents and test plans
- Derive testing requirements from functional and business requirements
- Review technical design documents and develop end-to-end integration test scenarios
- Identify and create test data
- Build and execute service/API validation scripts
- Document and communicate test status and results
- Assist in resolving issues identified by team members
- Apply BCBST QA best practices, policies, and procedures
- Support accurate, high-quality production releases, including occasional after-hours validation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hands-on experience creating and executing test cases, performing functional testing, and identifying, documenting, and managing defects
- Experience with Selenium WebDriver or comparable automation tools such as Playwright
- Familiarity with Java and automation testing practices
- Strong SQL skills, including writing queries and validating data within databases
- API testing experience and familiarity with Bruno, REST Assured, or similar technologies
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Healthcare payer or healthcare application testing experience preferred
- Experience testing provider, eligibility, or similarly integrated web-based applications preferred
- Experience with system integration, regression automation, and end-to-end testing preferred
- Familiarity with hybrid automation frameworks and UI, web, API, and database validation preferred
- Experience supporting user acceptance testing and production deployment validation preferred
- Candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones preferred
- Sponsorship is not available
- Bachelor's degree in information technology/software engineering or relevant work experience in the software industry or equivalent work experience required
- Equivalent experience is defined as 2 years of professional work experience in the software industry
- 1 year of experience in API or webservices testing
- 2 years of experience writing SQL queries and testing reports
- 2 years of experience testing web, mobile, interfaces, and back-end processing applications
- 1 year of experience in test automation or performance, including troubleshooting issues
- 1 year of working experience with Agile delivery teams
- Coding/scripting skills
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with vendors and external partners
