About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure effective and efficient assembly operations through monitoring departmental policies, procedures, staff, and standards
  • Organize and manage manpower to achieve quality and efficiency goals
  • Provide leadership consistent with BPA strategies, objectives, and policies
  • Directly supervise 15–20 employees
  • Interview, hire, train, assign, direct, appraise, reward, and discipline employees
  • Develop and maintain a safe working environment
  • Manage and support the Assembly Team and Project Team from design review through final assembly, testing, decommissioning, and shipment
  • Set and maintain assembly schedules, assigning leads and backups to projects
  • Develop and lead project teams supporting quality, safety, and productivity goals
  • Train assembly staff on best practices and SOPs for building complex automation equipment
  • Educate staff on organizational rules and regulations and enforce them
  • Develop operational procedures for assembly quality and performance
  • Assist Shipping and Receiving with project materials
  • Represent BPA and the Assembly Team during customer Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Order and maintain assembly supplies, tools, raw materials, Kanban, VMI, and consumables
  • Plan and manage shifts and coordinate overtime and exceptions
  • Motivate staff to achieve goals and targets
  • Use ERP, Excel, and ADP to validate and report weekly assembly hours to the VP of Operations
  • Use ERP, Excel, and PDM to pull missing-parts lists, open-operations reports, and BOM tools
  • Remove roadblocks and help the team meet weekly objectives
  • Support the service department and reschedule assembly staff as needed
  • Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and E-Drawings to assist and guide assembly
  • Interface with departments through email, Teams, and other methods
  • Attend management meetings and provide team feedback
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe assembly floor
  • Conduct performance reviews for Assembly team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in management in a production manufacturing environment
  • Combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, mechanical blueprints, and electrical schematics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Experience with CAD, 2D and 3D software preferred
  • Familiarization with Lean practices and DMAIC preferred
  • Planning and organization skills for running and monitoring the production process
  • Ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to lead and develop teams while managing diverse work groups in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and strong project management skills
  • Strong leadership, follow-up, and time management skills
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering specific to industrial automation
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check
  • BPA will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position
