About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teach online Office Administration courses
  • Record weekly lectures
  • Facilitate instruction according to the signed contract, course syllabus, and published course catalog
  • Meet all scheduled classes, labs, and clinics for the entire allotted time
  • Use teaching methods and media suited to students with varying educational and experiential backgrounds
  • Provide course syllabi with measurable objectives, grading criteria, prerequisites, student responsibilities, instructional sequencing, and assignments
  • Assess student mastery and provide continual feedback to students and the Assessment Coordinator
  • Maintain and submit required academic, registrar, departmental, and assessment records by prescribed deadlines
  • Implement the college’s Assessment of Student Learning Program
  • Recommend reference and instructional materials to the Department Chair and college library
  • Schedule and maintain necessary on-campus activities, including course planning, preparation, instruction, advising, and office hours
  • Maintain working knowledge of BMCC administrative student management software and MOODLE
  • Follow college procedures and submit documentation for absences, complaints, academic dishonesty violations, and related matters
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair on assessment and classroom-based research
  • Assist with curriculum development and refinement as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field from an accredited college or university
  • CPC, RHIA, or RHIT certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of field experience in the relevant discipline
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructing students individually and in groups
  • Knowledge or experience with alternative teaching strategies, including group projects, hands-on learning, practical applications, computer-assisted instruction, distance learning, or team-teaching
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Knowledge or experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs
  • Experience working with Native Americans in an educational setting preferred
  • Experience working and/or teaching in Tribal communities, specifically at a tribal college, preferred
  • Unofficial transcripts for all earned degrees; official transcripts required at time of offer
  • Proof of tribal enrollment if claiming preference
  • At least three professional references, or letters of reference
