About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform ongoing comprehensive client credit analysis for assigned client portfolios
  • Assess business entities’ overall financial health and credit risk within prescribed discretionary authority
  • Apply lending expertise to underwriting, funding, monitoring, or other parts of the lending process
  • Make credit decisions or provide timely advice to business banking relationship managers
  • Support strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct independent analysis and resolve strategic issues
  • Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Coordinate databases in accordance with data governance standards
  • Build and execute change management plans and activities
  • Develop communication plans, tailored messaging, and distribution channels
  • Provide input into operational program planning and implementation
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service
  • Facilitate funding as an independent control point for legal and security documentation, where applicable
  • Analyze lending applications, identify deficiencies or exceptions, and recommend remedies
  • Confirm security valuations and complete or approve credit applications
  • Develop risk profiles, structure lending proposals, and complete credit investigations
  • Respond to audit and quality-check inquiries
  • Build relationships and alignment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to improve processes, analysis, and reporting
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
  • Monitor and track performance and address issues
  • Follow security, safeguarding, fraud prevention, anti-money laundering, regulatory, legal, audit, and ethical requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and Bank information
  • Identify risks and take appropriate actions to maintain operational integrity
  • Liaise between clients and organizational departments to discuss issues, procedures, and product support
  • Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework and make risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically between 4–6 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced understanding of business banking products, lending process and directives, credit risk policies and standards, supporting processes, applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and Bank policies
  • Strong knowledge of credit qualification and adjudication standards, policies, and procedures
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
