About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and grow a portfolio of complex agriculture and agri-business clients across British Columbia, largely in the Fraser Valley
  • Provide strategic advice, relationship leadership, and tailored financing solutions
  • Drive portfolio growth, credit quality, and risk management
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships across BMO’s full suite of products and services
  • Work closely with a dedicated Credit Analyst to drive business development and support credit decision-making
  • Facilitate business development and manage key client relationships
  • Generate significant revenue through sales and syndications
  • Act as an escalation point for complex client issues and resolve conflicts
  • Structure high-value, complex deals and secure credit approvals
  • Oversee credit approvals and coordinate pricing
  • Negotiate high-value, complex transactions
  • Manage high-value client portfolios, driving cross-selling, retention, and profitability
  • Lead market coverage strategies and identify portfolio expansion opportunities
  • Represent the bank at industry forums and conferences
  • Engage senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align strategies and address client needs
  • Deliver reports on team performance, client satisfaction, market trends, and strategic initiatives
  • Advise on loan products, options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with high-value and strategic clients
  • Analyze market trends, industry developments, and competitive positioning
  • Define products, solutions, and strategies with internal teams and stakeholders
  • Identify share-of-wallet opportunities
  • Use analysis tools to grow portfolios that exceed ROE thresholds and evaluate client returns
  • Ensure regulatory, internal control, and compliance adherence
  • Serve as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Address complex and non-routine problems and implement changes in response to shifting trends
  • Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework and make risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy and applicable policies, laws, and regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Relationship Management, Account Management or Portfolio Management in a corporate or similar segmented banking environment with sales metrics preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred
  • Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered
  • Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards, if a Credit Qualifiable role
  • Combination of education, experience and industry knowledge
  • Advanced proficiency in Project Management
