About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide sector expertise, innovative thinking, and execution across a full suite of capital markets products
- Collaborate to generate creative, client-focused solutions for prospective and current clients
- Participate in deal teams to develop, present, and win mandates for new opportunities
- Create pitch books and participate in client presentations
- Monitor clients, industries, and regulatory agencies for changes affecting portfolios and business needs
- Initiate contact with partners for new client sales
- Manage a diverse portfolio of private and middle-market companies, progressing toward increased client responsibility
- Review and monitor existing accounts and client relationships
- Conduct due diligence, including client visits, business model analysis, industry trend reviews, and regulatory reviews
- Identify portfolio diversification, cross-selling, efficiency, and service-improvement opportunities
- Provide analytical findings to deal teams
- Support strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders
- Build stakeholder relationships and ensure alignment
- Create and update financial models and analyses to anticipate client needs and support strategic recommendations
- Analyze and assess industry compilations
- Prepare reliable technical and financial reports and analyses for client deliverables
- Assess transaction complexity and credit, market, operational, and legal/compliance risk
- Integrate information from multiple sources to improve processes, analysis, and reporting
- Provide direction, feedback, development, and mentoring to Analysts
- Apply risk management, internal controls, compliance, policies, laws, and regulations in day-to-day work
- Exercise judgment and independently handle complex tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting
- Outstanding academic achievement
- 3+ years of investment banking or valuation experience at a financial analyst level
- Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products, and applicable regulations
- Credit analysis experience/understanding
- Good knowledge of organizational portfolio management policies and objectives
- Solid deal/transaction execution and/or project management skills
- Exceptional quantitative analytics, financial modeling, and credit analysis skills
- Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
- In-depth verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth collaboration and team skills
- In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills
