About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver an exceptional customer experience for a defined portfolio of high-risk borrowing accounts
- Reduce the Bank’s loss exposure and manage risks
- Advise internal and external stakeholders on complex, high-risk credit risk transactions and mitigation strategies
- Make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and Bank policies and procedures
- Work with stakeholders to deepen relationships and grow portfolio profitability
- Ensure effectiveness of risk management controls, analysis and monitoring
- Provide credit coaching, training and support to teams and stakeholders
- Provide strategic input and act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders
- Recommend strategy and new initiatives to senior leaders
- Act as subject matter expert on relevant regulations, policies and lending issues
- Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making
- Recommend business priorities, resource requirements and strategic roadmaps
- Manage resources and lead strategic initiatives to deliver business and financial goals
- Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues
- Develop and manage information management systems and improve processes, analysis and reporting
- Define business requirements for analytics and reporting
- Lead change management and communication strategy programs
- Collaborate across BMO on communication strategies and messaging
- Lead operational programs and adapt execution to ensure quality
- Support credit due diligence for bank acquisitions or integration
- Monitor portfolio financial and risk performance and perform customer/account financial and risk analysis
- Document credit transaction decisions, rationale, terms, conditions and collateral requirements
- Build relationships with internal/external stakeholders, including legal and insolvency professionals and consultants
- Gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
- Monitor and track performance and address issues
- Execute work to deliver timely, accurate and efficient service
- Operate at group/enterprise-wide level as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders
- Implement changes in response to shifting trends and make risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy and risk appetite
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically 7+ years of relevant experience
- Post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to established qualification standards
- In-depth / expert knowledge of banking products & services
- In-depth / expert knowledge of industry trends and regulations
- In-depth / expert knowledge of credit portfolio management policies & procedures, and financing guidelines
- Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge
- In-depth / Expert verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth / Expert analytical and problem solving skills
- In-depth / Expert influence skills
- In-depth / Expert collaboration and team skills, with a focus on cross-group collaboration
