About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions for sponsor and non-sponsor transactions
  • Coordinate with other products as part of a broader coverage team maintaining client relationships
  • Provide lending expertise across sectors and establish credit facilities for LBOs, M&A, dividend recapitalizations, refinancings, add-on acquisitions, and investment-grade/sub-investment-grade transactions
  • Support Trade Finance product credit approvals
  • Manage a diverse lending portfolio of private, public, and middle-market companies
  • Monitor existing account and client relationship performance
  • Identify opportunities to diversify client portfolios and cross-sell products
  • Collaborate with sector coverage partners and product specialists to deliver solutions
  • Structure deals and negotiate transactions with clients
  • Maintain ongoing coverage contact with lending clients and sector managers
  • Build client relationships and align products and services with client needs
  • Support strategic initiatives and ensure stakeholder alignment
  • Generate financial models and analyses as business needs and industry requirements dictate
  • Analyze industry compilations, trends, and regulations
  • Complete due diligence and credit analysis for sponsor-backed leveraged borrowers and private-equity ownership structures
  • Assess transaction risks, including credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, leverage, acquisition integration, dividend recapitalization, sponsor exit, and cyclical earnings risks
  • Make recommendations balancing the Bank’s risk appetite with client needs
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to improve processes, analysis, and reporting
  • Review and guide Analysts’ and Associates’ work
  • Adhere to risk, internal control, compliance, and policy requirements
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support
  • Independently diagnose and solve non-routine problems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically 5–7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, corporate banking, sponsor finance, or commercial lending
  • Experience originating, underwriting, structuring, and negotiating complex financial transactions
  • Experience supporting sponsor-backed leveraged buyouts (LBOs), mergers and acquisitions (M&A financings), dividend recapitalizations, refinancings, and acquisition financings highly preferred
  • Experience developing client and sponsor relationships in a corporate lending environment
  • Relevant Business Services Sector experience highly desired
  • Good knowledge of organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives
  • Advanced deal execution and/or project management skills; ability to manage more than one client or major initiative
  • Ability to create and deliver professional presentations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience
