About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Jointly manage new Commercial Real Estate loan requests with the Relationship Manager while protecting the Bank
  • Interact with clients to enhance their relationship with the Bank
  • Monitor client portfolio performance and complete loan reviews and renewals on time
  • Monitor covenants and other credit conditions
  • Analyze investor-owned properties and markets nationwide to evaluate repayment ability, credit risk, and collateral valuations
  • Generate client solutions, pursue marketing efforts, and cover clients with Relationship Managers
  • Manage client solution opportunities within portfolios
  • Coordinate lending proposals and pitches for prospective clients
  • Lead cross-selling initiatives and increase client share of wallet
  • Provide deal structuring expertise
  • Negotiate transactions and loan documentation
  • Manage Commercial Real Estate loan portfolios, including reviews, renewals, modifications, and interim monitoring
  • Complete site inspections at origination and annually thereafter
  • Ensure credit decisions comply with sound credit-granting principles and Bank policies
  • Protect Bank assets through compliance with lending, legal, ethical, regulatory, audit, and risk-management requirements
  • Exercise authorized lending discretion and approval limits
  • Follow Know Your Customer and anti-money-laundering procedures
  • Prepare or oversee concise credit correspondence
  • Obtain credit concurrence as client advocate
  • Monitor covenants and asset/client performance to identify deterioration and ensure compliance
  • Manage high-risk loans and transfer them to Special Assets Monitoring Unit when appropriate
  • Maintain client contact with Relationship Managers
  • Work with specialists on cross-sell opportunities
  • Maintain and promote a customer service environment
  • Manage workflow in alignment with departmental goals
  • Mentor, coach, and support career development of analysts and associates

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree preferred in Commercial Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • 7-10 years of proven experience in analysis, structuring, and negotiating Commercial Real Estate lending transactions
  • Experience with all investor-owned property types
  • Experience with loan documentation, loan closing, and construction draw administration
  • Minimum of 10 years in the financial services industry in a corporate lending environment developing business
  • Commercial Credit Qualification with Limits
  • In-depth understanding of Commercial Real Estate products, lending processes, directives, supporting processes, and technology
  • In-depth knowledge of organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives
  • Formal credit training and prior lending authority
  • Working knowledge of risk management practices and strategies
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools, including MS Excel
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the Internet
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building ability
  • Excellent business development and cross-selling abilities
  • Ability to advocate persuasively
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
