About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to assess aircraft hardware, software, and firmware designs
  • Identify potential safety hazards and propose solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards
  • Support product safety and customer mission success for the US Navy Unmanned MQ-25 Stingray program
  • Analyze and mitigate safety hazards and issues identified during manufacturing and flight testing
  • Research and analyze potential or reported manufacturing issues, risks, and safety concerns
  • Research systems to identify or investigate in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns
  • Identify systemic root causes for safety and mission assurance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Define and validate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements in designs, operations, and procedures
  • Participate in tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system compliance
  • Create and maintain aerospace safety and mission assurance tools, processes, and corrective action plans
  • Document safety analyses, hazard mitigation, and validation and verification activities in compliance with customer and regulatory standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Level 2: 2+ years of experience working in an engineering, engineering technology, or related technical discipline
  • Level 3: 5+ years of experience working in an engineering, engineering technology, or related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with the design and technical development of hardware, firmware or software for Military, Space, or Commercial airplane systems
  • 3+ years of experience in software verification & validation and safety analysis
  • 3+ years' experience general working level knowledge of tactical aircraft hydro-mechanical subsystems and components, including at least one of: flight controls, landing gear, ejection seats, fuel, hydraulics, power plant (engines & APU's), environmental controls
  • Strong background in aircraft systems or Avionic / Software
  • Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 standards highly desirable
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 required for U.S. export control compliance
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required by the U.S. Government
  • Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance required post-start
