About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, conduct, and document complex tests on products, systems, components, materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies
  • Design, fabricate, build, and analyze test systems, materials, components, software, and methodologies
  • Coordinate test requirements and determine test methods and capabilities
  • Guide system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout, and teardown for test preparations
  • Perform test article configuration control
  • Conduct complex tests, analyze data, document results, and participate in test readiness reviews
  • Identify and resolve test anomalies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex laboratory and test-related problems
  • Coordinate test laboratory activities, maintenance and repairs, and personnel training
  • Assist government agencies and safety and hazardous materials teams during emergencies
  • Assist engineers and senior technicians with optical alignment and related efforts
  • Serve as a test crew member, with training in optics and lasers, telescope operation, camera operation, or atmospheric operation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering technician, construction or facilities maintenance disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience working with powered hand tools or equipment
  • Willing and able to work variable shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; a U.S. Security Clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process
  • Preferred: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: Experience assembling lab prototypes, chassis wiring, and mechanical mounting based on schematics, drawings, and system requirements
  • Preferred: Experience operating complex computer-based analysis or control systems
  • Preferred: Experience with high power lasers
  • Preferred: Experience with optical alignment techniques
  • Preferred: Experience with electronics/electrical systems
  • Preferred: Experience with mechanical systems
