About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support firmware and software research development projects
  • Develop firmware and software architecture specifications in a team environment
  • Research algorithms and implementation approaches
  • Design and validate firmware components
  • Integrate and synthesize firmware for the target platform
  • Develop and maintain software code
  • Integrate software into a fully functional software system
  • Troubleshoot basic firmware and software issues
  • Assist with test procedures and document test results to ensure embedded system requirements are met
  • Support hardware, firmware, and software development for electro-optical systems
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain embedded electro-mechanical pointing and tracking control systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required; U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance or equivalent after starting
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or directly related non-US equivalent qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with System on Chip (SoC) hardware/software
  • 2+ years of experience in C++ software development in a Windows operating system environment
  • 2+ years of experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Willingness to work variable shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
  • U.S. Person status required for U.S. export control compliance
  • Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • Mid-level (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Lead (Level 4): 9+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance preferred for higher levels
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx Vivado/Vitis IDE
  • Experience designing deterministic real-time software using FreeRTOS
  • Experience with FPGA processor or memory interconnects
  • Experience integrating hardware and software components
  • Experience with MATLAB or Mathematica
  • Experience with HDL, VHDL, and Java
  • Experience with DDR, QSPI, UART, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet
  • Experience developing sensor acquisition and processing code
  • Experience developing servo control applications
  • Experience with mixed signal oscilloscopes and function generators
  • Experience with telescopes and electro-optics systems
