About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage the Certification & Safety application maintenance and development team
- Provide guidance, support, mentorship, coaching, counseling, developmental opportunities, and job assignments to team members
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish project timelines
- Manage the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Ensure adherence to software development best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, regulators, peers, partners, direct reports, external vendors, and contractors
- Ensure timely delivery of software solutions and adherence to service level agreements
- Manage the team budget and financial plan
- Collaborate with business teams, project managers, and IT support for seamless integration with existing systems and processes
- Identify, recruit, develop, engage, and retain team talent
- Partner with global teams to define future team operations and deliver enterprise solutions
- Stabilize and sunset aging applications, enhance existing solutions, and shape future applications and technologies in the Certification & Safety product space
- Support Certification activities for new Commercial programs, advance Safety culture, and load operations-critical software onto aircraft prior to first flight and delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR completion of Boeing’s internal course “Exploring Leadership”
- 10+ years of experience in information technology or technical support
- 5+ years of experience working in a cross-functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership
- 5+ years in software development and collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools
- Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict Of Interest (COI) assessment process
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person
- U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
- Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (preferred)
- Experience communicating complex concepts clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders (preferred)
- Experience with Agile Software Development/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) (preferred)
- Experience in DevSecOps and Automation (preferred)
- Exposure to implementing AI solutions in existing engineering software solutions (preferred)
- Experience coaching and mentoring managers, leads, and individual reports to continuous learning and improvement (preferred)
- Experience in Aerospace domain (preferred)
