About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Receive work assignments from a team leader or supervisor and obtain necessary materials and equipment
- Obtain engineering drawings and test documents as required
- Fabricate wire or fiber optic bundles connecting test, computer, and sensing equipment for data collection
- Set up and perform qualification, bench, or automatic tests
- Install fiber optic strain gauges, thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gauges using soldering, bonding, spot welding, or mechanical fastening
- Use scissor or boom lifts to access instrumentation installation areas inside hangars and outside on airfields
- Modify test equipment to meet engineering configuration
- Select and use hand, power, bench, shop, and test tools
- Write tie-ins and maintain work logs and equipment records
- Devise or build shop aids and workarounds to test and troubleshoot systems
- Handle and protect static-sensitive components and assemblies
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to Safety Data Sheets and procedures
- Pack electronic equipment for travel according to drawings and Boeing specifications
- Inspect completed work and submit completed or reworked jobs for inspection
- Contact team leaders, supervisors, engineers, or planners when assistance is needed
- Comply with tool control policies
- Work 100% onsite in Tukwila or Seattle, Washington
- Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting wire harness diagrams and installation schematics
- 1+ year of experience in electrical (wire shop) fabrication and required processes
- 1+ year of experience with soldering electronic components
- U.S. Person status required for export control compliance (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
- Ability to work any assigned shift, including 1st or 2nd shift
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and test equipment and interpret results
- Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting, and terminating wires and/or wire bundles per electrical codes
- Knowledge of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to calculate and apply advanced mathematics
- Ability to interpret 3-D coordinate systems and dimensional references
- Ability to operate floor-mounted hydraulic and/or mechanically operated equipment
- Entry-level competency operating Power Industrial Trucks safely
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and hand-held power tools
- Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical systems
- Ability to operate test equipment, perform testing, and interpret results
- Knowledge of proper use, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals per regulations and Boeing procedures
- Maintain personal and tool certifications
- Preferred: 3+ years of strain gaging experience
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems
- Preferred certifications in electrical, mechanical, or safety disciplines
