About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Receive work assignments from the team leader or supervisor and obtain necessary materials and equipment
  • Obtain engineering drawings and test documents as required
  • Fabricate wire or fiber optic bundles for test and computer equipment and sensing equipment
  • Set up and perform qualification, bench, or automatic tests
  • Install fiber optic strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gages using soldering, bonding, spot welding, or mechanical fastening
  • Use scissor or boom lifts to access installation areas inside hangars and outside on airfields
  • Modify test equipment to meet engineering configuration requirements
  • Select and use appropriate hand, power, bench, shop, and test tools
  • Write tie-ins and maintain work logs and equipment records
  • Devise or build shop aids and workaround methods for testing and troubleshooting
  • Handle and protect components and assemblies, including static-sensitive equipment
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to Safety Data Sheets and Boeing procedures
  • Pack electronic equipment for travel according to drawings and Boeing specifications
  • Inspect completed work and submit completed or reworked jobs for inspection
  • Contact team leaders, supervisors, engineers, or planners when assistance is needed
  • Maintain personal and tool certifications and comply with tool control policies
  • Work on instrumentation for civilian, military, and space Boeing aircraft

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting wire harness diagrams and installation schematics
  • 1+ year of experience in electrical (wire shop) fabrication and required processes
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and test equipment and interpret results
  • Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting and terminating wires and/or wire bundles in electrical systems and assemblies, per the appropriate electrical codes
  • Knowledge of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to calculate and apply advanced mathematics
  • Ability to interpret 3-D coordinate systems and dimensional references
  • Ability to set up and operate floor-mounted hydraulic and/or mechanically operated equipment
  • Entry-level competency operating PIT (Power Industrial Trucks) safely
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and hand-held power tools
  • Ability to effectively communicate information
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical systems
  • Ability to operate test equipment, perform testing and interpret results
  • Knowledge of proper use, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals per government regulations and Boeing procedures
  • Ability to work any assigned shift; position is for 2nd shift
  • U.S. Person status required for export control compliance (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally
  • Preferred: 3+ years of strain gaging experience
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems
  • Preferred certifications in electrical, mechanical, or safety areas
