About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Receive work assignments from the team leader or supervisor and obtain necessary materials and equipment
  • Obtain engineering drawings and test documents as required
  • Fabricate wire or fiber optic bundles for test and computer equipment and sensing equipment
  • Set up and perform qualification, bench, or automatic tests according to work assignments and technical instructions
  • Install fiber optic strain gauges, thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gauges using soldering, bonding, spot welding, or mechanical fastening
  • Use scissor or boom lifts to access installation areas inside hangars and outside on airfields
  • Modify test equipment to meet engineering configuration requirements
  • Select and use hand, power, bench, shop, and test tools
  • Write tie-ins and maintain work logs and equipment records
  • Devise or build shop aids and workaround methods for testing and troubleshooting systems
  • Handle and protect static-sensitive components and assemblies
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to Safety Data Sheets and Boeing procedures
  • Pack electronic equipment for travel according to drawings and Boeing specifications
  • Inspect completed work and submit completed or reworked jobs for inspection
  • Contact team leaders, supervisors, engineers, or planners when assistance is needed
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
  • Work on Boeing aircraft, including civilian, military, and space models

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting wire harness diagrams and installation schematics
  • 1+ year of experience in electrical (wire shop) fabrication and required processes
  • 1+ years of experience soldering electronic components
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and test equipment and interpret results
  • Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting and terminating wires and/or wire bundles in electrical systems and assemblies, per appropriate electrical codes
  • Knowledge of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to calculate and apply advanced mathematics
  • Ability to interpret 3-D coordinate systems and dimensional references
  • Ability to set up and operate floor-mounted hydraulic and/or mechanically operated equipment
  • Entry-level competency operating PIT (Power Industrial Trucks) safely as required
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and hand-held power tools
  • Ability to communicate information effectively
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical systems
  • Ability to operate test equipment, perform testing, and interpret results
  • Knowledge of proper use, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals according to government regulations and Boeing procedures
  • Ability to work any assigned shift, including 1st or 2nd shift
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Tukwila or Seattle, Washington
  • U.S. Person status required for export control compliance
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • Must maintain personal and tool certifications as required
  • Must comply with applicable tool control policies
  • Preferred: 3+ years of strain gaging experience
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems
  • Preferred certifications in electrical, mechanical, or safety areas
  • Must meet stated physical, chemical/material, environmental, and personal protective equipment requirements
