About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define requirements for propulsion system components used in cryogenic fuel, oxidizer, bi-prop, mono-prop, pneumatic, hydraulic, or pyrotechnic systems
- Support definition, coordination, and control of functional and physical interfaces between propulsion system components
- Design propulsion components to meet subsystem design and performance criteria
- Develop rationale for technical decisions regarding component design and development
- Support definition and performance of propulsion component qualification certification testing
- Lead or support engineers and technicians during hazardous and non-hazardous refurbishment, integration, test, launch, and recovery operations
- Evaluate fielded components for continued reliability and airworthiness
- Lead or support identification and management of propulsion risks, issues, and opportunities
- Develop mitigation and capture plans, cost and schedule impact estimates, and update risk tracking systems such as BORIS
- Communicate with the propulsion RIO Control Board
- Develop and maintain Supplier Statement of Work documents for vehicle component development
- Assure technical, customer, and regulatory requirements are met
- Support program and supplier management with material procurement plans
- Conduct component failure investigations and non-conformance closures through Material Review Board and other internal and customer boards
- Coordinate with Boeing SMEs and Integrated Product Team members to resolve issues
- Host technical interchange meetings and component reviews, including SRR, PDR/CDR, acceptance, TRR, and PRR
- Review supplier data requirement list items and engineering drawings for design and requirement compliance
- Coordinate work scope with other engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required); a U.S. Security Clearance active in the past 24 months is considered active
- 3+ years of related work experience
- Proven experience in rocket propulsion engineering
- Hands-on experience with propulsion system components, interface management, and design or integration considerations for aerospace vehicles
- Demonstrated expertise in systems design, systems analysis, or systems integration within complex engineering environments
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 10 percent, as required
- Successful completion of the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements and qualify as a U.S. Person
