About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with senior business and technology leaders to understand business needs driving technology decisions
  • Create and execute technology roadmaps, owning technical scope end to end
  • Shape architecture, drive implementation, and plan delivery with the team
  • Modernize legacy applications and architect greenfield applications across frontend, backend, APIs, and enterprise integrations
  • Select modernization and refactoring strategies, patterns, and practices
  • Design adaptable, cost-optimized, cloud-native SaaS applications and microservice architectures in globally distributed, multi-platform environments
  • Write and review code across multiple languages and paradigms
  • Integrate AI, ML, or LLM capabilities into solutions
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation
  • Make day-to-day technology and architecture decisions while identifying and escalating technical risks
  • Own architectural standards, practices, artifacts, and technical documentation
  • Serve as technical lead for a small developer team through coaching, pairing, code review, and mentorship
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development methods
  • Act as the technical point of contact for the assigned area
  • Evaluate products for sound architecture and management
  • Collaborate with the Information Security Office and Enterprise Cloud to meet security and regulatory requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience working and executing with software development design patterns, methodology and life cycle
  • 5+ years of experience with legacy technology modernization and refactoring techniques, including domain driven design (DDD), event storming, strangler fig, and transitional architectures
  • 5+ years of experience with distributed, cloud-native, API and microservices architecture including service orchestration
  • 5+ years of experience developing and operating microservice, containerized, or serverless applications
  • Experience with application performance management technologies, diagnostics, and issue resolution management
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, UML, Java, .NET, Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, and AWS/Azure Cloud
  • Experience delivering high-availability, resilient solutions meeting regulatory requirements and information security standards
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools, including AWS Q, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code
  • Understanding of AI concepts, algorithms, and applications
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Must not pose a risk for safeguarding controlled goods
  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data
  • Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred
  • Successful candidates must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest assessment process
