About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Partner with senior business and technology leaders to understand business needs driving technology decisions
Create and execute technology roadmaps, owning technical scope end to end
Shape architecture, drive implementation, and plan delivery with the team
Modernize legacy applications and architect greenfield applications across frontend, backend, APIs, and enterprise integrations
Select modernization and refactoring strategies, patterns, and practices and enable product-team adoption
Design adaptable, cost-optimized, cloud-native SaaS and microservice architectures in globally distributed, multi-platform environments
Write and review code across multiple languages and paradigms
Integrate AI, ML, or LLM capabilities into solutions
Implement CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation
Make technology and architecture decisions while identifying and escalating technical risks
Own architectural standards, practices, artifacts, and technical documentation
Serve as technical lead for a small developer team through coaching, pairing, code review, and mentorship
Drive adoption of AI-assisted development methods and act as technical point of contact
Evaluate products for sound architecture and management
Collaborate with the Information Security Office and Enterprise Cloud to meet security and regulatory compliance requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience working and executing with software development design patterns, methodology and life cycle
5+ years of experience with legacy technology modernization and refactoring techniques such as domain driven design (DDD), event storming, strangler fig, transitional architectures, etc.
5+ years of experience with distributed, cloud-native, API and Microservices architecture including service orchestration
5+ years of experience developing and operating microservice, containerized, or serverless applications
Experience with application performance management technologies, diagnostics, and issue resolution management
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, UML, Java, .Net, Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, AWS/Azure Cloud
Experience delivering high-availability, resilient solutions meeting regulatory requirements and information security standards
Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools, including AWS Q, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code
Must be legally able to work in Canada
Must not pose a risk for safeguarding controlled goods
Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data
Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred
Knowledge of Cloud Well-Architected principles is preferred
Experience designing Big Data solutions, Medallion architecture, and Distributed Data Mesh is preferred
Experience with airplane health and maintenance domains is preferred
Successful candidates must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest assessment process
